My WonderSpirit program is specifically designed to create a love of learning, supporting students of all ages and abilities to become adults capable of holding onto that spirit of wonder. Life-long learning is not only necessary for the future career success of our children in a rapidly evolving world, but it's absolutely essential to maintain well-being and overall health and to protect oneself with creative problem-solving abilities throughout life.
In College I studied a wide array of Social Sciences, received my B.A. in Human Development with honors, and went on to get my M.A. in Counseling Psychology. I worked fulltime through college and collected a fantastic portfolio of experiences which inform my teaching every day. My training in Educational Therapy, Behavior Therapy, Marriage & Family Therapy, and 9+ years of homeschooling allow me to create a very unique, whole-child, developmentally supportive program, which is both academic and backed with brain-based research, while also appearing like a flexible, creative, spontaneous, play-based community.
I have a passion for life and learning and I share that with my students and co-teachers every day. I try to always model the golden rule and lead with love in everything that I do. I respect children's personhood and they, in turn, trust me and respect me back. We are raising people. We are not raising detached brains functioning as computers, where the expectation would be black & white- data in and data out. We are full humans operating in grays and all of the colors of the rainbow, which is messy and glorious, this human existence- if we make it so.
